Harris Tweed Collar and Lead Care

Harris Tweed is 100% wool and should only be cool washed by hand or put on a cool maximum of 30°c gentle machine wash. Do not scrub tweed.

Before putting in the washing machine place the collar or lead in a wash bag or tied sock to protect the hardwear and your machine.

Collars and leads should then be reshaped and placed flat to dry naturally away from a direct source of heat. Do not tumble dry.

Over time Harris Tweed can get a little fluffy. To neaten up, lie the flat after washing and once dry gently use a razor to de fuzz.

We do not recommend that collars with metal hardware are exposed to salt water. If your dog goes for a swim in the sea the metal hardwear should be rinsed with fresh water and the collar left to air dry. Fresh water swimming also isn't advised. We can make collars with plastic hardwear if your dog often goes in water.

Collar and Lead Maintenance

It is the owners responsibility to ensure their Tails of the Glen collar or lead is safe and suitable for their dog.
Please check buckles and lead clips regularly for signs of damage. Any sand or grit should be rinsed from the buckle or clip.
Collars and leads should be checked regularly for wear and tear.
